Scoil Chormaic shall respond to the needs of our children by providing a safe, stable and caring environment providing the opportunities to learn and the variety of experience necessary so that each student may achieve their full potential as members of the wider society which they will encounter when leaving school.

Mission Statement Explained

There are children whose learning difficulties or other barriers to progress require consistent and continuous educational influence such as can be provided only in a special setting.

In the light of this statement we may see our role as a deeply vital one in which we have a duty to provide a safe and stable and caring environment which is at the same time functional and viable as an educational establishment.

The types of children at Scoil Chormaic are unique, individual, widely variable and all require the special expertise we can offer them. We provide the opportunities to learn and the variety of experience necessary, in order that they may achieve their full potential as members of the wider society which they will encounter when leaving school.

The school is co-educational as it is essential that the children have the opportunity to develop normal relationships with members of both sexes. We must look very closely at the needs of our children which we as educationalists and people in the caring profession know to be needs common to all individuals. The needs being educational, environmental, physical, emotional, behavioural and psychological.

All these needs should have been carefully taken into consideration before placement in Scoil Chormaic and should be reassessed at regular intervals.

To summarise our primary concern in educating the children in Scoil Chormaic is that we look to their individual needs and act as a guide catalyst to help them overcome their specific difficulties and to foster those skills which they will need for life. We offer a no limit approach to learning!
