Physical Education is for all students from Junior classes to school leavers. We use the curriculum to guide us through the six strands which are Aquatics, Athletics, Dance, Games, Gymnastics and Outdoor and Adventure. In the Senior School, we also use the Priority Learning Units from Personal Care in the Junior Certificate Level 1 and Level 2 Programmes. The Physical Education curriculum contributes to each students overall physical and mental health by helping them to lead a full, active and healthy lifestyle. Daily incidental sensory activities also promote physical activities and emotional well-being.
Teacher CPD – April 2019
On Friday 5th April, Ms Commins and Ms Barrett attended the Move Well, Move Often Seminar 3 at WIT Arena. The Seminar was run by the PDST. The title of the Seminar was ‘Developing the Physically Literate Pupil through the lens of Fundamental Movement Skills.’ The course was informative and interactive and both teachers are looking forward to sharing this knowledge with the whole staff.
